As we all know webOS does not support AOL at this moment, yes there was an improvement to Exchange support – and improved integration between Facebook and Contacts – when Palm released webOS 1.1.0. But there are many of you that were hoping to get AOL in the synergy party. According to Bill from Precentral, AOL is working hard at it.

So, as you can see, AOL released a few days ago an update to their sync services. Not only did they have “many fixes”, but “added support to over 70 new devices.” The Palm Pre, was not on that list. Using Twitter Bill asked AOL for Synergy support for the Palm Pre. As you can see on the image above, their answer was that they “want it as desperately” as Bill and are working on it.
AOL is working with Funambol to get the ball rolling with webOS. Funambol performs mobile cloud sync for contacts, calendars, tasks, notes and content such as pictures as well as push email. The software supports popular desktop apps, including MS Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird on Windows, Mac and Linux PCs. Started in 2001 as the Sync4j open source project, Funambol currently supports over two billion devices.
