Dell might look at buying Palm?

This is all just some speculation on the part of BloggingStocks and others, but analysts think that Dell, after the recent news of their smartphone being too “boring” for any of the carriers to pick it up, might want to buy Palm and the handset that has the wireless world talking. Yes, Michael Dell probably sees the Palm Pre as his companies best hope into the smartphone market, and his chance to hit back at Apple.

Honestly, while it might be tempting, and Michael Dell might be considering it, I don’t believe Palm is in dire straights just yet.  The excitement over webOS and the upcoming Pre gives Palm enough hope to survive, despite their losses.  Palm has enough clout as a pioneer of smartphones that they’ll be able to survive on their own, as long as the Pre doesn’t completely fail.

A buyout by Dell might be a tempting offer for Palm, but I don’t think we’ll be seeing a Dell Pre 2.

Do you think Palm’s company image would decline if purchased by Dell? Sound off in the comments.
