palmprehandA new YouTube video was uncovered by internet sleuths yesterday that has Peter Skillman, Palm’s VP of Design walking through some previously unseen features of the Pre. Check out after the jump for the video and some things to listen for.

0:20 – Looks like a type of slide-to-unlock screen, but the field to drag through covers a semi-circle radiating out from the center button. This would seem to make one-handed use easier for righties as well as south-paws, seeing as you can drag your finger across any way you wish.

0:57 – “A micro-USB so I can move my media content, sync with iTunes…” Say whaaa? Unless Palm has some cards up their sleeves, this may prove to be difficult, especially as the Pre mounts as mass-storage USB instead of a specific device type. It’s doubtful that a Pre could trick iTunes into thinking it’s a compatible device. Through 3rd party software it’s already possible to one-way copy specific iTunes playlists to a device mounted in this fashion, but we’d need to see something really special for true two-way sync.

1:06 – 3MP camera with Extended Depth-of-Field, Autofocus…is this built in with software, or hardware? A hardware auto-focus on a piece of hardware like this would be impressive. Especially in a case as thin as the Pre’s.

1:30 – Comparing Pre’s keyboard to those of Treo Pro and 650 with regards to ease-of-use. 8mm wider than Centro, which can feel a little bit cramped.

2:50 – Notifications very un-intrusive, simply scales current work area to slide notification in at bottom of screen. Easily dismissed, or continue working while the phone is ringing. No interruptions in work flow.

3:35 – Amazon Music Store: Streams samples of songs over network, purchases easily transferred off device with USB cable. No word on if they can be attached to e-mails/MMS/etc.

3:54 – Music Player interface: Looks scarily reminiscent of iPhone coverflow. Can’t wait to see what Apple/iPhone enthusiasts have to say about this…

That’s it for the hot topics of this particular video. It is available for viewing in HD, simply click the ‘Watch In HD’ link at the bottom right corner of the YouTube video page. We’ve got lots to look forward to!
