Many of us, if not all, are waiting for Google Latitude to show up on our Palm webOS devices, but Google is taking time. Last time Google did some improvements and updated Google Maps for the Palm Pre was back in October, but no Latitude love. That could be changing soon though.
The last ‘big’ update that came to us Palm Pre users from Google Maps, was Public Transit and Walking Directions for Google Maps. Now don’t get me wrong, it is useful and is very welcome, but most of us Palm pre and Pixi users want Google Latitude on our webOS handsets too.
We have word from Precentral on how you could be able to get Google Latitude up and running on your webOS handset. And the best part, at least for those who don’t want to mess around with their devices, there is no hacking involved. Instead, just point your Pre to the web address below:
http://maps.google.com/maps/m?mode=latitude
It will launch Google Maps into a list of your latitude friends. Remember that it is not a full fledged Google Latitude, but you can poke around a bit, before it starts to give you some minor hiccups. You’ll see that there are some features that work, but other don’t, but don’t blame anyone for that, remember that is not ready for webOS just yet. So for now just be happy for what you have and ask Santa that we can get Latitude very soon on our webOS handsets.
