More Than a Million Downloads for the Palm Pre Homebrew Apps

The Palm Pre had been out just less than twenty days when the App Catalog reached over one million downloads. The folks at Precentral report that – although they just started counting from August 19th, so the actual figure might be higher -their Homebrew App Gallery is already over one million downloads too.

According to Precentral, The Homebrew App Gallery was open on August 5th, but, for those who are in-the-know, the actual homebrew for the Palm Pre started since June 11th with the first Hello World app. Now if you remember, one of those homebrew apps had just made it to the Palm App Catalog. Translator is that app, it translates between 45 different languages using the Google Translate tool.

Apparently, there’s another homebrew app on its way to the App Catalog. A popular Twitter client named “Twee”, by “Delicious Morsel”. According to Dennis Wilkins of Delicious Morsel, he was tracking about 1200 users per day. But after Twee landed in the Homebrew Gallery, it went up to about 5000 unique users every day.
