More uncovered info about the Palm Pre’s camera

camerapicture-199x300We have been trying to get every bit of information regarding the Palm Pre so that we can leave no stone unturned. One thing that has continually remained unanswered is the quality of the camera. We now know that the Pre uses only the latest imaging correction software from DxO Labs.

DxO is a leading competitor in the field of image analysis and correction and is used is all major camera brands including Nikon, Cannon and Sigma. For embedded solutions DxO offers IPE (Image Processing Engine), ISP (Image Signal Processing) and DOP (Digital Optics Processing). The DxO IPE 5350 solution is a combination of the newest digital optics technology and highest class image processing that in the end provides the best low light pictures with advanced features such as Global Adaptive Lighting, Smart Vibrancy, enhanced depth of field and on-the fly processing without the need of frame buffer. The DxO ISP 5350 solution is a range of image processing featuring sensor noise compensation, smart vibrancy, multiple pixel level corrections and more.

The DxO solutions extend the depth of field to provide users with very detailed close up shots. Below is a visual demonstration of such a shot with and without DxO solutions.

Palm has really gone the extra mile even with the camera to provide the best users experience possible with the Pre. Palm is dedicated to changing the way mobile phones are thought of while bringing top quality handsets to the forefront.  From what we hear the Palm Pre’s camera sounds really amazing, we cant wait to give it a nice field test.
