Biggest news of the week is another rumored launch date for the Pre, and if it turns out to be true then Palm are arguably even braver than we’ve been giving them credit for. This latest date is June 5th, a day before the Apple WWDC and what’s tipped to be the launch of at the very least iPhone OS 3.0 and, if other rumors pan out, the next-gen iPhone.

This is one of those times when we wish Sprint’s Pre-blogging employee would step in and corroborate, but so far all they’re talking about is Office 2007 compatibility and the prospect of video recording on the near horizon. Meanwhile, Canadian CDMA carrier Bell Mobility announced that they’d be exclusively offering the EVDO Rev.A Pre, with a launch scheduled for the second-half of 2009.
With no firm launch date for the calendar, instead we’re having to piece together the Pre’s market-readiness from leaks wherever we can get them. News from the set of a Pre commercial – starring a monstrous mock-up of a Facebook page – suggests that Sprint and Palm are going all-out in their promotions, while a leaked Best Buy inventory record tips the Touchstone inductive charger already in stock and, at $69.99, just waiting for the handset it’s intended to rejuice. Finally, we received a couple of Pre training videos, running through email and contacts functionality; until we can pick up the smartphone in our own hands, I guess we’ll just have to live vicariously.
