There was a serious lack of Palm Pre coverage this week, partially because I was busy working on SlashGear, and partially because I’m 3 weeks away from graduating, and the finals and papers are starting to rain down. Oh, and there really wasn’t a whole lot that we’ve heard about the Palm Pre. What we DID learn was still pretty good though.

Accessory makers have the Palm Pre and are presumably making cases and whatnot for it in addition to taking comparison shots and leaking them onto the internet. I think it goes without saying: if you’re going to hand model one of the hottest devices of the year and post it on the internet, get a manicure.
Developers that have been admitted into the Mojo SDK program are letting us all know that webOS is living up to the hype. I’m really glad to hear that, and I can’t wait for the first Flashlight apps to hit the App Catalog.
Apparently the Palm Pre is going to be DOA, at least according to the Motley Fools. They’d better tell the millions of people that want the Palm Pre around the world then, because if the phone isn’t going to produce good sales numbers, all those people wanting to buy it better not waste their money. /Sarcasm.
I’m going to probably end up buying it anyway, but according to some leaked screen shots of a Point of Sale terminal, the Touchstone charger is going to inductively debit your bank account for $69.99.

And potentially the biggest news of the week, we have pictures of the Palm Pre in the hands of someone who isn’t a celebrity. Or is it not in the hands of someone who IS a celebrity…? No, I had it right the first time. Some kids had their Pre phones out to take pictures of a parade in San Francisco, and gladly showed it off to the guy taking the pictures. Upon communication with the gentlemen responsible for bringing us these photos, I have rescinded my previous accusation that these photos are ’shopped. At least until word gets out that they’re fake. Then I’ll rescind my redaction.
Make sure you enter our Forum Contest. No telling when Palm will announce the launch date of the Pre, at which point the chance to enter will be over and judging will commence.
