Netbook prototype uses the guts from a Pre

There are several computer makers that are considering adding the Android mobile phone OS to a netbook. I have yet to hear about Palm or other providers considering webOS for netbooks.

While the Pre software might not be on the fast track to use inside netbooks, the hardware innards of the Palm Pre are. ARM is showing off a new netbook from Pegatron that runs the same architecture used in the Pre.

The typical netbook is powered by an Intel Atom processor on today’s market. The demo unit carries no designation at this point and uses a Freescale iMX515 CPU using the same ARM Cortex A8 chip as the Pre. However, with a larger battery the netbook platform is bumped to 1GHz rather than the 600MHz the Pre uses.
