Palm’s big announcement today was Early access to their Mojo SDK program. The program will be through an Application process for developers who wish to get their hands on the SDK and start writing apps for the Palm Pre and webOS.  This will be beneficial and ensure that there is a wide variety of apps for the release of the Palm Pre.

Once the SDK becomes public, it will be offered as a free download. Palm isn’t saying a date for that yet.

You might be thinking “that’s all? No legacy support?” To be fair, we built up the hype, and Palm didn’t really do a whole lot to stop us, or encourage it.  An SDK is a big deal, and it will allow developers to become familiar with the API’s and coding required for a webOS app. This also might enable developers to take an intimate look at the API’s and details of the code in webOS. After Apple released their SDK, numerous facts and rumors came out because of details within the code. Hopefully this will also be true of Palm.
