It’s hard to get away from the fact that the Pre on-device app store has less apps available than the Apple App Store offers. Despite that fact when the number of Pres on the market are considered the Pre app store is doing well.

According to Palm CTO Mitch Allen Palm is trying to appeal to Pre owners with quality apps rather than a large quantity of questionable apps. Anyone who has ventured onto the iTunes App Store will tell you many of the apps are not that great.
Allen also says that Palm is still working on guidelines that allow developers to build applications to take advantage of the Pre OS. “We clearly have to have a product we’re proud of,” Allen said. “Taking a little bit more time right now does trump the excitement that comes from having something that people can play with today.”
