Palm needs a “Lead App Catalog Administrator”





We have seen job listings for Palm Inc., before. Now we’ve found another one, this time is for a Lead App Catalog Administrator. It looks – and I really hope – that Palm’s policies regarding the App Catalog won’t be as bad as Apple’s App Store.

This means that Palm is doing everything they can to bring great apps to the Pre smartphone. We can only hope is sooner rather than later. Here’s the Position Summary for the Lead App Catalog Administrator

You will join a highly motivated team supporting the establishment of a vibrant developer community for Palm webOS. As Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the planning and execution of the review process for the Palm App Catalog.

The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator adept at resolving complex, sensitive issues. This position will be working under an aggressive schedule to cultivate developer relationships and resolve escalations in a timely manner. Needs to be able to organize and prioritize a heavy workload and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and has strong customer service skills.

This position will be exposed to sensitive internal and third party information requiring sound judgment and discretion in internal and external communications.

Responsibilities

* Manage day to day operation of the application submission review process. Implement policies and procedures and conduct regular quality audits.
* Communicate directly with developers to resolve questions and issues and be a clear spokesperson on process and policy in the webOS development community
* Develop creative solutions to remove obstacles; provide technical guidance where appropriate
* Implement procedure for technical investigation into individual applications to ensure they meet criteria for distribution by the App Catalog and maintain consistency in the review process
* Set performance goals and create scalable processes, tools, and metrics for App Review Team. Identify opportunities for operational improvements. Adapt and evolve review guidelines and workflow to align with business objectives and set the standard for best practices in mobile distribution
* Assist with ongoing recruitment, retention, training and development of staff. Create training programs for App Store Review, QA and Developer Relations teams

Requirements
* Superior verbal and written communication skills and a proactive approach to working with others.
* Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to act as an advocate for both internal and external customers to ensure we successfully deliver on commitments and expectations.
* Project management and organizational ability. Capable of delivering against aggressive performance goals for incoming case management including response time, key targets and quality objectives.
* Flexibility. Ability to adjust priorities and manage the business wisely in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to effectively manage sensitive situations and resolve any escalated issues as required.
* Strong data analysis and reporting skills. Facility with evaluation and reporting tools.
* Preferred Secondary Language Capabilities:
Spanish
German
Italian
French
* Capable of mentoring and inspiring team to deliver and constantly innovate
* Demonstrated innovative and creative thinking capabilities
* Working experience with Internet technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, AJAX.

Normally requires a BA/BS or equivalent, experience managing small to medium-sized teams, plus 4+ years experience in a Technical Account Manager, Customer Relations, DTS or Quality Assurance role or similar environment
