We know you’ve an insatiable appetite for Pre details, and simply knowing what to expect from the smartphone activation process isn’t enough: you want user guides, features lists and all the handy pamphlets tucked inside the box. Thanks to Coal from Sprint Gurus we can bring you just that: first up, the Palm Pre factsheet, Features Guide and Getting Started Guide.
The factsheet basically lists everything your friendly Sprint (or Best Buy, or RadioShack, or Wal-Mart) agent will be telling you about the Pre, including its specifications, which OSes it’s compatible with – Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista (32-bit only, according to this sheet) and Mac OS X – and battery life. The latter is listed at 4hrs continuous talktime or 200hrs standby, which is less than the previously suggested figure of 5hrs talktime and 250hrs standby.
The Features Guide gives an overview of the main capabilities of the Pre, including GPS navigation, Sprint TV, NASCAR and picture messaging (though not video MMS at launch), together with how to access the features from the Pre’s menus. As for the Getting Started Guide, that details all the gestures you can perform, how to sync data, merge different views and link together contacts, and use the universal search.
