A lot of you might remember when Best Buy had the Palm Pre for $849.99 with out a contract, and $199.99 with a two year contract, no MIR. Well yesterday they had the Palm Pre at $99.99 with a two year contract.

Now, don’t get your hopes up so fast, unfortunately, it seems to be a mistake on Best Buy’s part. According to Best Buy Marketing Manager John Bernier tweets, it was an error that is being corrected. I personally went to my local Best Buy yesterday to see if the news were true. In fact they were, although Best Buy’s webpage showed the regular price of $199.99, inside the store they had the Pre for the unbelievable price of $99.99. A lot of people did manage to buy Pre phones at that price, others who bought the Pre at Best Buy recently were getting money back via price match, before the BB stores were told about this error. Sprint, Walmart and Radio Shack were selling the Pre at the regular price.
Many people believe this was a tactic to get more customers. And of course most of the iPhone “followers” made a lot of noise about how Palm was “desperate” to sell the Pre. Did anybody here manage to be a lucky Pre owner for the ridiculous price of $99.99? Let us know in the comments area.
