Palm Pre Has its share of hardware issues

It is more uncommon today to have a new product launch without any issues with hardware or software than it is for them to launch with issues. The Pre launched over the weekend and it didn’t take long for the new and proud Pre owners to find a few issues with the sexy device.

Engadget reports that some Pre owners are reporting discolored or distorted displays; some are also reporting dead pixels. Some reports of unexpected shutdowns have been reported with the remedy supposedly being to pull the battery from the device. Another work around is to hold down the power button and toggle the ringer switch three times while reciting the alphabet backwards. Ok, so I made that last part up.

Another big issue is that the text field in the web browser reportedly won’t support symbols that aren’t on the keyboard. That means that any key you need to hold down Sym to access doesn’t work. We can expect a firmware update soon to address these issues; Palm is taking the launch of the Pre very seriously.
