I have some fond memories from long ago of playing Doom at a friend’s computer. I remember at the time that I though the game had the best graphics ever. Most mobile phones and even those cheap kids games often have better graphics today.

The iPhone can play Doom and Pre owners looking to frag some demon spawn may have been sad to not be able to get the game on their handset. Thankfully, Pre owners can now play Doom to their hearts content on the Palm device.

A geek named Sargun has been able to port Doom to the Pre using the open source PRDoom application. The game was reportedly rebuilt using the DirectFB graphics library. Doom was originally coded in C to allow it to port to other platforms easily, but I bet John Carmack and his crew never through the game would be running on a cell phone when they were working on it.
