In case you’re not up on NBC talkshow hosts, or perhaps you have an early bedtime, that’s Jimmy Fallon being hypnotized by the Palm Pre.  The smartphone made an appearance on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, bringing Engadget Editor-in-chief Joshua Topolsky along to demonstrate just what makes the Pre so special.

It’s tough to think of another smartphone, bar the iPhone, that’s considered to have such mainstream appeal so as to feature on a non-tech show.  Right now it’s unclear who pulled which strings to arrange the appearance, but it’s certainly a PR coup for Palm.

Palm now need to concentrate on maintaining their momentum until the Pre launches.  There’s a sneaking suspicion among us here at My Pre that the company wouldn’t cash in a mainstream publicity stunt like this with too long to go before they could get a return; could it mean that the Pre is set for release sooner rather than later?
