Palm have released a new firmware update for the Pre, taking webOS to version 1.0.3. Available as an over-the-air (OTA) download for Sprint Pre users, the update is a 13MB file and brings with it improvements to the smartphone’s Exchange and calendar performance, together with reducing the delay between synchronization of Google Contacts entries.
In fact, the default sync interval for Google Contacts has been reduced from “every few hours” to every 15 minutes, and Palm suggest that users should see changes made on the Pre show up online “within a few minutes”. A bug in the Pre’s alarm, in which weekday notifications would also sound at weekends, has been fixed, and the Google Calendar sync has been brought in line with the Contacts frequency.
There are no new applications in this update, and 1.0.3 is being referred to as a bug fix and feature change update. Pre users should be alerted to the new software by their handset, but you can also trigger an update through the settings menu.
