Screenshots of Palm’s webOS operating system have emerged, courtesy of an anonymous developer taking part in the company’s pre-release software program. The images - which show the Pre during a call, its status screens, settings pages and more – were taken from within the Palm Emulator, which developers can use to test their applications in the absence of a Pre handset itself.

The shots also show Google Maps in action, and while the webOS skin is different the functionality should be familiar to anybody who has used the company’s mobile app. Also confirmed is an Airplane Mode, which will see the Pre disconnected from the Synergy cross-network synchronization system and instead use cached data.
Unfortunately there’s no sign of the YouTube application that was spotted running in the wild last week. That could confirm that it’s a Sprint app, not a Palm one.
