It appears we are not the only ones who notice the potential and the capabilities of the first webOS smartphone from Palm. As the year is coming to an end, there are more awards coming to the Pre’s belt. Popular Science ranked the Pre as one of the best gadgets of 2009, calling it “A socially skilled phone”.

The award this time is Best of What’s New 2009 from Popular Science, on the Gadgets Category. Recently, Consumer Reports placed the Palm Pre on their list as one of the best products of the year. And before Consumer Reports, the folks over at PCWorld ranked the Palm Pre 14th place on “PC World Top 100″ best products of the year.

As mention above, Popular Science calls the Palm Pre a socially skilled phone, below is the whole enchilada on what they think about the little black pebble.

The Palm Pre excels exactly where a smartphone should: at keeping you connected. Its operating system builds in software for more social and messaging services than any other phone, so it can organize many digital accounts in one simple interface. A single program sends both text and instant messages, a single calendar displays appointments from home and work, and one page shows e-mails from all your inboxes. Its address book automatically merges names from various accounts, too, combining all a pal’s info into one listing, updated with their Facebook photo.
