The Palm Pre on-device app store has caught quite a bit of criticism since the device launched. The problem isn’t that the app store on the device isn’t good or doesn’t work. Rather, the problem is that the store has a very limited amount of apps available for download.

Strategy Analytics has issued a study that polled a dozen Pre users in San Diego about their time with the Palm App Catalog. The participants in the poll were asked to spend at least 5 minutes browsing the store and come up with five apps they were interested in.
All participants in the study found that the store was easy to navigate and that the interface was intuitive. The big complaint according to the study participants is that there isn’t enough content to choose from. At the time of the study, there were only 60 apps in the Palm store.
