One of the things that Palm refused to talk about during the Keynote as well as one-on-one time with the device is battery capacity and battery life. Now we have reason to believe that the battery included in the Palm Pre will be 1150mAh because it’s the same battery as the Palm Centro and Palm Treo 800w.
When in the one on one Palm did open up the back of the device, but as suspected they did not talk about it. When the comment was thrown out there that it looks identical to the Centro battery they did admit that the comment was not wrong. Its possible that Palm will try to cram as many milliamps into the battery as possible, but for now it remains 1150mAh, 1350mAh as the best. Jenn from Packetables is reporting that the battery is 1200mAh so it makes things even more questionable.
In the past Palm has managed to drag out a lot of battery life from in comparison to other Windows Mobile devices. When Palm says that “Mobile is in our DNA,” they mean it. We believe that Palm would not rest until the Pre has acceptable battery life, even with the nature of webOS.
