Sprint, just like Best Buy has done something crazy, yes, they backed off on the $100 Palm Pre. It had been only about half a day, when Sprint pulled the plug on the sweet deal. Everyone could not believe that was a mistake, but apparently it was.

As you might remember, Sprint was offering the Palm Pre to new customers for the same price – with the instant discount and mail in rebate – of $200. But if those new subscribers were porting their phone number, then Sprint would give them a $100 credit on their monthly bill over a 3-month period. Sounds good right? Well, it didn’t last long. Would this mean they are getting ready for the cheaper Palm Pixie/EOS to show up first? Who knows.
Here’s what Sprint had to say on that matter: “After further internal review today, the offer of a port-in service credit of $100 to new customers who buy the Palm Pre has been pulled, because it was put into the system in error.” In error! How did that happen? Anyway, there you have it folks, Sprint said they will honor that offer to those who got a Palm Pre during that tiny window of “system error”.
