As we all know, any mobile phone emits radiation, that’s why many people are concern about brain damage by using cell phones. Well, for us Pre users, take comfort in that our beloved smartphone will not harm us as other phones might do.

According to the Environmental Working Group, the Palm Pre ranks at 0.92 W/kg SAR when held at the ear, and 0.94 W/kg SAR when worn on the body. Which is a good thing, as with the specific absorption rate, smaller numbers are better. If you see on the chart above only the BlackBerry Storm has a lower score.
SAR is measured in watts/kilogram, and is use to measure the amount of electromagnetic (radio) energy put off by by a phone during use. The United States limits SAR ratings to 1.6 W/kg, while the EU sets the bar at 2.0 W/kg. Is worth to notice that the EWG website may not be completely accurate or maybe they are just getting ahead a little. For example, check the Palm Pre page, which lists the phone for both Sprint and Verizon.
