As some of you might remember, USA today was one of the first newspapers to have the Palm Pre on a full page ad paid by Sprint back on April 6th. Yesterday, USA Today had an article on mobile social networks and they had a couple of nice pictures with the Pre in them. Check them out below.

The article where the Palm Pre was featured was about how advertisers want to capitalize on the exploding use of the internet on mobile devices. Specifically, they talk about how marketers want to gain more out of mobile social networking users. The article mentioned that the number of people who use social networks from their smartphones, skyrocketed 187%, to 18.3 million unique users in July, compared with the same month a year earlier.
Unfortunately, the article cites the iPhone and Android as primary targets for advertisers, and only mentions the Palm Pre under the pictures, which by the way, show our beloved little wonder; the Pre, and none of the other phones. They go on to talk about how so many people nowadays tend to use a mobile phone instead of a desktop or even a laptop or netbook to search the web and checking news, but the one of the main reasons is social networking.
The guy in the images is Kevin Lomax, a 29-year-old singer/songwriter/producer in New York. He uses an iPhone and Palm Pre to post songs on his MocoSpace page. Lomax notes, “These days, who carries a laptop unless you are a businessman?”
