This week was full of exciting coverage of the Palm Pre at the CTIA Wireless convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. We spent three days bringing you pictures and video of the elusive Pre. If you haven’t been here all week and feel overwhelmed by the unusually large number of posts, fear not. I’ll tell you what you need to know.

First, we tried to answer all of your questions, and we were able to get straight enough answers from Palm and Sprint. They still wouldn’t tell us anything about the release date or price though.
I got my first hands-on experience with the Palm Pre, and it was everything that I was hoping and more. I love that keyboard.

While camping out in the Sprint Lounge at CTIA, the CEO of Sprint, Dan Hesse paid a visit, and Vincent got the guts to tell Dan what we all wanted to say.

We took our time filming each individual feature on the Pre, and we tried to get every single one. We started with Pandora, which was the absolute best example of the multitasking capabilities of the Pre, as well as the surprising inclusion of notifications from the individual applications as well as the Pre’s phone functions itself.
One might forget that the Pre is a phone with all the other capabilities it possesses. We made sure to demo that for you so you could call your mother on launch day with your brand new Pre.
The Pre has direct access to download music directly from one of iTunes’ biggest competitors: Amazon. This DRM-free, 256 kbps music can be purchased and downloaded directly to your Pre, and music from your computer can be loaded on as if it were a removable drive when connected to your computer.
We took a look at Fandango, and the ability to AUTOMAGICALLY place appointments into your calendar after you purchase movie tickets. The slick interface will make an excellent tool for skipping lines at the theaters.
We took a look at the contact organization, and the amazing Synergy feature of the Palm Pre brings all of your contacts’ information from multiple sources and compiles single cards for each person. This will make your search for that email address or phone number much easier.
SprintTV has always been a funny program to me. I never enjoyed watching the SprintTV on my Instinct simply because of the small screen. Yet I found myself amazed by the smooth streaming on the large screen of the Pre. SprintTV might finally be something worth watching.
FlightView is a handy little application meant for travelers or those who need to give them rides home from the airport. It offers life flight tracking and information on delays, etc.
Treo and legacy Palm device fans rejoice! The Pre is going to support emulation of PalmOS applications through an application called Classic. You can check out how it works and savor the use of your Treo just a little longer, knowing you’ll be able to transfer your applications over to the Pre.
We gave you the first and only hands-on demonstration of the Sprint/TeleNav Navigation GPS application for the Pre. If you’ve had the pleasure of using SprintNav before, it’s mostly the same, but it looks particularly beautiful on the Pre.
Palm announced the early SDK program for developers to apply to write apps for the Pre. The initial SDK program is only open by application and approval by Palm, but one day (and we don’t know when) it will be open and free to all, hooray!
Palm uploaded a second Meet Pre video entitled “This Weekend.” It shows off the capabilities of Synergy, calendars, and contact organization, as well as the ability to mesh multiple communication methods (email, IM, etc.) into one threaded conversation.
If you made it all the way down here, congratulations! It was a busy week, and we’d like to thank all of you for visiting MyPre.com and making it successful for us!
