Now that the Palm Pre announcement has had time to sink in, people are starting to take a deeper look at how it might affect the smartphone landscape. The folks over at Laptop Magazine believe that the Palm Pre poses a threat, particularly to Android-powered smartphones, and have put together a list of 5 reasons why Android should fear the Palm Pre.
Laptop Magazine argues that Palm, like Apple, finally understands the importance of a good hardware/software combination. They also point to all the companies that have jumped behind the Pre, including Google, as an indication that the Pre is destined to succeed.
I feel compelled to agree with most of the points, but I will point out that Google’s willingness to develop for the Pre isn’t a slam-dunk indicator of its success – Google works to put its apps on many phones. Still, I believe just the same that the Pre is going to be a wildly successful phone when it drops later this year.
